Providence’s Deer Tick’s upcoming new release has been on my list of must listens since it was being recorded. They are just one of those bands that are iconic to the music scene I follow; I just love these guys, live, recorded and everything in between so I’m excited just to get to hear a single track from their upcoming album. Their upcoming record, Divine Providence, will release on October 25th via Partisan Records.
About the album, McCauley says, “After so many years of critics praising [and making fun of] us for our ‘folk’ and ‘country’ sounds, and hardly ever mentioning the fact that we’ve also recorded virtually dozens of other kinds of music, we wanted to make a record that was truer to our live set: raw, loud, heartfelt, and completely uninterested in whatever the hell the rest of the music industry is up to.” It’s quite a statement which leaves a lot to live up to.
