NPR debuted AA Bondy’s “Surfer King” off his recently released, album Believers, as the NPR song of the day yesterday. So in the spirit of SOTD I gave it a listen. Its a bit of a different feel from his earlier days of being a blues / folk troubadour. This slow, ambling song tromps around on a feathery light, downtrodden, almost sobbing sound. It’s a haunting song that is quite gorgeous in its ability to both be sad and comforting at the same time.
