Monument Valley is the musical project of Londoner Ned Younger. His first track from his debut release, the Tongues EP (out Nov 28), is “Round and Round.” The album concept is quite fun actually. Younger collected nameless photographs at random garage sales and markets and amassed an extensive collection of pictures of strangers. From there, the album is written as imaginary stories of the people in the photographs. It’s an introspective look into his imagination through songs inspired by rock and indie pop.
Its a very cool concept, but that wouldn’t mean much if the music wasn’t any good. That is not the case. The 50’s rock/pop influences, and new indie influences create a timeless feel that modernly fits with a great narrative.
