Our friends Kingsley Flood released their Colder Still EP yesterday, one that has been on regular replay here in my library and for good reason. Colder Still is a 6 song EP that ramps up the energy and plays like a Kingsley Flood live show. A bit raucous, full of energy and exemplifies the rootsy, gypsy, americana these guys play, with an added a bit of testosterone.
If you’ve been fortunate to have heard them play live, you’ve probably heard most of these songs, but the studio recordings are pretty fantastic. I love the pure energy and the style of the guitar solo on “Mannequin Man,” the rustic side of “Quiet Quiet Ground,” and the gypsy feel on “House on the Hill.” Its a fantastic little EP that must be part of your library because you will for sure play this one again and again.
This band is consistently putting out great, engaging, music and putting on fantastic live shows. They are poised to make a big splash this year.
