Cover | Chamberlin – You Can Call Me Al (Paul Simon)
by Kyle Mitchell, the editor and founder of Music Savage, lover of music, hater of remixes.

Vermont based rock quartet, Chamberlin is just about to head out on tour, but before they do that, they are sharing a dark, grim cover of Paul Simon’s 1986 hit song “You Can Call Me Al.” Guitarist Ethan West recalls “One day I was driving down the New Jersey turnpike, feeling kind of depressed and “Al” comes on the radio and I realize that these are actually some pretty amazing, introspective and frankly dark lyrics. Obviously the song and the record as a whole worked out for him, but I couldn’t help but wonder if Paul Simon had ever considered arranging it so that the music matched the lyrical darkness a little more. We thought we’d give it a try.” It’s a dark, brooding version with heavier riffs and a of the song that is definitely not what one would expect, its definitely an interesting take on a classic track.
The guys are about to embark on a US tour but will be back in town here at the Middle East in November.
