[A]mericana pop-smiths The Longwalls are releasing another record this year titled Kowloon, and they are offering up a little sampler (above). It would be fair to say they’ve traded sonic landscapes from their bread and butter 90’s alt-pop pastiche for that of a slightly moodier & more serious one. Maybe it’s growing up, maybe its early onset seasonal affective disorder, but on Kowloon, guitars fuzz, vocals reverb ever so slightly, and the songs can take a bit more of an introspective feel. Sonically, it is a sharp sound that sounds like a great direction for the band.
Look for The Longwalls‘ Kowloon next month, and a CD release party at the Lizard Lounge January 26th.
