New Music | Fort Frances – City By the Sea
by Kyle Mitchell, the editor and founder of Music Savage, lover of music, hater of remixes.
Chicago band Fort Frances has been a regular feature here on Music Savage, their folk-rock sensibility and songwriting always touches a nerve with us, and this one hit us once again. A song written as fall hits, and with the impending doom of the winter, songwriter found solace and even positivity in the barren existence that is a midwest winter, as if there were an optimism that the winter is actually the beginning of a new year, and ripe with possibility. That’s a theory I can wrap my head around, and the music seems to do the same. It’s an earnest and forthright feeling track, that is a perfect shot in the arm as these winter days start getting longer.
Friday, Fort Frances will be streaming a Daytrotter session featuring some new songs this upcoming EP, Harbour.
