[I]t seems our music coverage as of late has been focused directly on the City of Angels and with new TORCHES music on the way it won’t end anytime soon. The upcoming EP is titled If The People Stare and the band will be releasing it independently on May 6th. Following on the heels of their well-received, debut full-length album, Heads Full of Rust, the new songs deliver on the shoegazing, day dream sound which has made TORCHES darlings of LA’s modern rock radio stations KROQ and KCRW. They have also built up an extensive fanbase thanks to a non-stop tour schedule of every venue in the greater Los Angeles area, as well as visits to SXSW and CMJ.
To celebrate the release of If The People Stare the band has announced a hometown, Monday night residency at The Echo for the month of May. Every show will be free so you really have absolutely no excuse not to check them out. They have also sent us the great track “When You Gonna” to share with our fine followers across the music loving landscape. It is 3 minutes of shimmery-pop goodness to help welcome the coming weekend and shake off the cubicle doldrums.
