New Music | Julie Rhodes – In Your Garden

Massachusetts native Julie Rhodes is getting ready to unleash her debut LP, Bound To Meet The Devil, and we are pleased to share with you fine folks the first single, “In Your Garden.” The Somerville soulstress was born and raised in Woburn, MA and has been honing her musical chops all over New England these past few years, including a few pop-up performances at this year’s Newport Folk Festival.

The first thing you notice the moment you press play on “In Your Garden” is that growling, powerhouse of a voice. Rhodes sings out “Oh go on and leave me/like another weed in your garden/Nothing I can say is gonna make you stay,” and when the guitar kicks in over the drum beat nothing you can do is gonna make you sit still for three and half minutes. It’s a helluva song and I can’t wait to hear more.

Bound To Meet The Devil will be released February 26th, 2016 and was produced by fellow musician Jonah Tolchin, who played NFF in 2012. The two artists became friends through the community that is Newport Folk Festival and he encouraged Rhodes to start writing music. All of our Music Savage faithful know how much we love those three days in July, so this collaboration kicking into gear via Newport is something special.

There will be double header album release shows on February 26th & 27th in Boston and Providence. We will bring you more info soon so stay tuned.
