New Music | Basement Revolver – Johnny

There are some new musicians in Hamilton, Ontario looking to shoegaze their way into the indie rock landscape and they are known as Basement Revolver. Sure it’s a crowded field, with not much elbow room, but I think the debut single, “Johnny,” from the Canadian trio fits in rather nicely.

Basement Revolver are Chrisy Hurn (vocals/guitar), Nimal Agalawatte (bass/synth), and Brandon Munroe (drums), all recent college graduates who are now readying the release of their first EP rather than worrying about final exams. Not sure which one of those is more stressful but if “Johnny” was their thesis Music Savage would have given them an A+ for lyric structure and musical composition.

Hurn sings “It’s a really bad time right now/It’s a really bad/really bad” during the song’s chorus. Here’s to a really good time for Basement Revolver this year. We’re looking forward to hearing more from them.
