Song of the Week | Mary-Elaine Jenkins – The Americans

The latest edition in the WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight shines on the stellar new single, “The Americans,”  from the South Carolina-born/Brooklyn-based musician Mary-Elaine Jenkins. The track is off her upcoming debut album, Hold Still, out September 28, 2018 via Good Child Music.

“The Americans” is the third single to be released in 2018, following on the heels of “Fools Don’t Stay” and “The Rooster” which were released simultaneously back in May. All three tracks have one thing in common…that incredible voice! I could try to sum it up but Meghan Rose of The Deli did a great job. She wrote “Jenkins’ voice is a mix of cloves, sage, ash, thorns, and honey” and that my friends is spot on.

I have already listened to “The Americans” a dozen times as of the publishing of this post and I think you’ll agree that it is a killer tune. Honestly all of the songs I have heard from her are amazing, including the covers she has on her SoundCloud page. I’m pretty sure come September 28th the name Mary-Elaine Jenkins will be all over the music blog-o-sphere and she will be getting the accolades deserved. I’m going to do my best to make sure that happens!
