The WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” feature is back for 2019 and ready for a new year of amazing gems to share with y’all! Super excited to let the first spotlight of the year shine down on the super catchy new single, “Topo Chico,” from Houston singer-songwriter Robert Ellis. Track is the latest song released from his upcoming album, Texas Piano Man, out February 14th via New West Records.
We have already been treated to a number of singles that we’ve highlighted over the past couple of months here on Music Savage and all have been terrific. I selected “Topo Chico” for the Song of the Week because the sparkling mineral water was my go to beverage of choice when I lived in Austin. It is perfect on its own or mixed with pretty much any top or bottom shelf booze on the market. Hearing this happy number about the national beverage of Texas brought me right back to the Lone Star State, hanging out with friends nursing hangovers with a few bottles of Topo at Juan in a Million (the BEST Mexican food in Austin) on E Cesar Chavez St. Ahhh sparkly memories!
Robert Ellis has announced his initial tour dates in support of Texas Piano Man. On February 13th he will celebrate with his hometown fans at an in-store performance at Cactus Records in Houston, TX, and will follow that with an in-store at Waterloo Records in Austin on Valentine’s Day. Austinites will also get to check him out at SXSW Music Festival from March 11th through the 17th before he kicks off his headline tour in Oklahoma City on March 23rd. We are fortunate to have him stop by Boston on Sunday, March 31st @ Great Scott and I have one word for you. Go!
