New Music | Bird By Snow – Grace

[S]ongs that feel this mysterious feel as though they give us wisdom passed down from the trees, something primordial and all together larger than the sum of us.  That is the feel that Bird By Snow seems to be going for on their upcoming album titled, Offering.  Check out this single, “Grace,” which seems to elegantly fill your ears with the inspiration of Fletcher Tucker’s home  in Big Sur, CA. Look for Offering on LP + digital (out Sept 15th, 2012)

New Music | Team Spirit – Phenomenom

[P]assion Pit’s former keyboardist, Ayad Al Adhamy, is leading a new band called, Team Spirit, and they’ve got a self-titled debut EP.  Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t sound much like Passion Pit, but that shouldn’t dissuade you, “Phenomenom,” is a guitar driven, powerpop track with a whole lot of, well you guessed it, spirit.  It’s got a freewheelin, energetic vibe, and an instantly likeable feel to it. Look for their EP on the band’s bandcamp page.

New Music | Blonde Summer – Robots On Command

Blonde Summer – Robots on Command [M]ore summertime music is never a bad thing.  These guys seem to have this style on lockdown.  I practically lose all care as soon as I hear their music.  Check out Blonde Summer’s second single, “Robots on Command,”  a fuzzed out, guitar heavy song.  The sundrenched sound and the bands pop sensibility stands out on this track as they wax poetic about robots, young love and care-free vibes. Their latest EP Slow Daze, released July 31st.  Get it here.

The Technicolors – Sweet Time

The Technicolors – Sweet Time [E]very once in a while, we just need a ballsy rock-n-roll sound to kick start our day / month / etc.  This might be that song, this might be that band.  Enter, the Technicolors.  Bluesy rock, with an Oasis like vocal set, its an exciting sound that’s both classic and refreshingly modern sounding. Admittedly, I’m way late to the game and will not claim them in the hipster sweepstakes of “I found them first,” but who cares, its an awesome sounding track. The Technicolors are based out of Phoenix, AZ and recently released their latest…

New Music | Modern Rivals – Clocks vs. Darts

Modern Rivals – Clocks vs. Darts [M]odern Rivals are a five-piece made up of entirely friends who’ve been playing music together since middle school.  Their music lies somewhere in the keyboard-inflected dream pop, they are wonderfully melodic, they create songs that on the surface level fit into that dreampop genre, but are stylistically experimental, and very interesting. Check out their second single off their latest Sea Legs EP, “Clocks vs. Darts,” the EP was recorded and produced by the band, then mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, Grizzly Bear, TVOTR). The band is currently working on their first full-length release. Modern…

New Music | Western Affairs – Iowa

Western Affairs – Iowa [W]estern Affairs is a three-piece dreampop group based in Washington DC. Back in July they released, 2000,  a six track EP with single “Iowa,” featured above.  It’s an eclectic dream-like state full of ambient spacey sounds that give the song a sense of solitude, and in these days of Mars exploration, this seems to fit right in. New Music | Blessed Feathers – Hey All You Floridians

Blessed Feathers – Hey All You Floridians [W]isconsin’s Blessed Feathers have an interesting story of origin. When Donivan Berube left his home in Lakeland, Florida, after disassociating himself from his life as a Jehovah’s Witness. At 17, he left home and headed north straight into Wisconsin where he ended up working in a restaurant in West Bend fatefully meeting Jacquelyn Beaupre his now wife and musical partner in crime. Check out first single , “Hey All You Floridians,” that was released a while back but is being offered up in anticipation of the album. It’s a rambling folk track full…
