New Music | Blitzen Trapper – Love the Way You Walk Away

Blitzen Trapper – Love the Way You Walk Away

Second released cut from Blitzen Trapper’s upcoming new album American Goldwing is a 70’s folk rock influenced track. Its slow acoustic intro relents into a slow foot stomper, complete with banjo and synth accoutrements and Earley lends his fantastic vocals to this warm, country tinged track that sure feels like good ol road trip music.

American Goldwing drops on us 9/13 on Subpop, and Blitzen Trapper just announced a huge co-headlining tour with Dawes which stands to be one of the best tours we’ll get to see this year.

Buy some tickets and see some awesome live music.

New Music | Peter Wolf Crier – Settling It Off

Peter Wolf Crier – Settling It Off Peter Wolf Crier’s second album, Garden of Arms, will be released on September 6 on Jagjaguwar. This album will follow up Inter-Be their 2010 debut. Today, they released their second single to p4k, “Settling It Off.” The bands influences on this album seem to be on the more experimental side, a bit darker, and a near dream-like state similar to their track “Right Away” that was released back in June. I look forward to hearing this album as a whole, and seeing how this direction takes the band. For me, at first listen,…

New Music | House of Wolves – 50’s

House of Wolves – 50’s House of Wolves is the musical moniker of singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Rey Villalobos, the name’s origin coming from the translation of Villa-lobos from Spanish to English.  The LA native’s debut album Fold In The Wind is a stripped down, beautifully dark collection of songs full of haunting melodies.  Villalobos’ tender voice obviously brings to mind Elliott Smith and Sufjan Stevens, though the arrangements are much more simplistic,  the music has a visceral feel to it, an almost inward looking approach that is quite exquisite. New Music | Continents – The Perfect Circle

Continents – The Perfect Circle Continents is the musical undertaking of Kansas City native Jim Button. Button began writing in the summer of 2008, creating, and recording the material that would eventually become his debut entitled Land of Plenty. This summer he released his followup EP, Spiriting. Continents sound is that of a psychedelic hazy trip, an ethereal journey crafted that to me is reminiscent of Beck. Check out the Perfect Circle and grab the EP, Spiriting.
