The latest WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight shines down on the UK once again and this time focuses on the wonderful debut single “We Are Gold” from London-based Zophy Ohr, the stage name of Peruvian singer, songwriter, and actress Alessandra Morris. She left Peru to pursue a professional career as a singer/songwriter in England, where she began playing open mics around London, studied music and earned an MA in Music Business. The moment I pressed play on this one I was dancing along to the incredible beat pulsing from my speakers. Ohr has amazing way…

Song of the Week | MariaElena – Es De Fantasía

The new WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” shines brightly down on Kansas and focuses sharply on the incredible song, “Es De Fantasía,” from Wichita-based project MariaElena. It’s the first song and title track off her sophomore album released November 2019. Music has long been a part of Maria Elena’s life and she has been writing and releasing songs, either in bands or on her own, for many years. She formed a band called The Great Plains while living in Beijing and upon returning home formed a jazz-infused folk band called El Cuco. In 2018 Elena and…

Song of The Week | False Heads – Rabbit Hole

The WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is focused sharply on the UK and for the fourth time shines down on East London trio False Heads. Today I highlight the amazing new single, “Rabbit Hole,” off their upcoming debut full-length album, It’s All There But You’re Dreaming, out March 13th. We have been following the band for just about five years now and it has been so much fun to watch their rise into the punk-rock stratosphere. The new song is just another taste of the ass-kicking music you can expect from a band that has…

Song of the Week | Stella and the Very Messed – In Past Tense

This week’s WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is on the wonderful single, “In Past Tense,” from Stella and the Very Messed. The track is off the Austin, TX band’s debut album, On Fences, out now. Stella and the Very Messed was created by Stella Maxwell (vocals) and Dave Hawkins (bass/guitar/synth), former members of one of my favorite bands Cruiserweight. Although they disbanded a few years back both bandmates knew they had a creative connection that needed to live on. They recruited two incredible musicians Chris Nine (vocals, guitars, keyboards) and Donnie Adkinson (drums), and together…
