Dead Professional – Downtown at Sundown

[D]o it yourself rock n’ roller John Harouff’s alter ego Dead Professional has a new video for the latest hand-clapping, sunglasses wearing, too cool for school single, “Downtown at Sundown,” and I thought it a perfect morning listen, as most of you will probably find yourself downtown in your city of residence at some point tonight. When you’re cruising the streets in your finest vintage car this evening you should have this song stuck in your head to help you master that James Dean lean-back. If you like what you hear, and I know you will, check out my…

Video | Gaoler’s Daughter – Cordelia

[L]ondon band Gaoler’s Daughter broke onto the music scene in 2012 with three well received singles and are poised to take 2013 by storm with the release of their debut album, How To Make Time, on August 26th. The band has been leaving their rock n’ roll mark on many a UK stage, and have gathered up quite the fanbase thanks in part to a pretty hectic tour schedule and fiery live show. In fact, the fans are fully responsible for funding the upcoming record, which is a true testament of devotion for a relatively new band. Check out…

Video | The Lone Bellow – Bleeding Out

[T]he Lone Bellow keep adding more and more fans to the fold and the trio’s dizzying assent to the top of the folk-rock food chain has been something to behold these past few months. They wear their hearts on their finely tailored sleeves and no where is this more evident than in the fantastic track “Bleeding Out,” from the self-titled debut album released back in January. Having written posts on the Brooklyn band a few times already this year it pleases me to no end that our fellow music lovers out there in blog-land feel the love for The Lone Bellow as much as I do.

Enjoy the brand-spanking new video for “Bleeding Out” above, and for chrissakes Bostonites get to The Sinclair on June 14th to see them live for “The Road to Newport” show! This goes for all you awesome Music Savage fans across the country…. if they stop in your town check them out. You won’t be disappointed.

If you haven’t already …get yourself a copy of their self-titled album.

Video | Jonny Fritz – Goodbye Summer

[T]his just needed to happen, and it is all kinds of wonderful. If this song doesn’t make you smile from ear to ear, I’m not sure what will. I’m in full support, 100% of this video for Jonny Fritz’ “Goodbye Summer,” the biggest earworm of the spring, off his recently released album Dad Country, a song I’ve been humming and singing loudly for the last couple of weeks. Jonny’s free spirited country / folk jams are already pure pleasure to hear, but watching him goof around with fireworks forces me to hit repeat again and again and again.

Please do grab his new record, Dad Country. It’s highly recommended.

Video Premiere | The Great American Canyon Band – Tumbleweed

[vimeo width=”940″ height=”529″]http://vimeo.com/57892184[/vimeo]

[I]’m very pleased to premiere this video for the Great American Canyon Band’s “Tumbleweed,” a particularly beautiful track from their Lost at Sea EP which is available now on Bandcamp & iTunes. The husband and wife duo create I shared the track months ago because of itsĀ ethereal sound, reverbed, spacey vocals that feels like a stripped down, Band of Horses. It’s got the vast wide open space to the sound, feeling desolate yet totally warm and beautiful. It’s a powerful track, that begs a powerful video. The visuals particularly seem to fit very well with serenity of the song, as well as the powerful force of nature towards the climactic finish. The video uses footage from the Jared Varva directed short film, TUMBLEWEED!, which was a Vimeo staff pick and screened at SXSW.

Video | Kingsley Flood – Sun Gonna Lemme Shine

[C]hchchcheck out the new video for “Sun’s Gonna Lemme Shine,” from Kingsley Flood’s standout record, Battles. The video follows the story of a young boy who wears a dress to school and feels like an outcast, only to be taken by an old man with an eyepatch (played by lead guitarist George Hall) to a Kingsley Flood where he can let his freak flag fly. The video was based on an article lead singer Naseem Khuri read, about the taboo yet common subject. Enjoy the video, the awesome tune, and if you haven’t already buy the damn record.

Video | Fossil Collective – Wolves

[L]eeds duo Fossil Collective create the type of music that permeates the senses and lingers in your head for a while. Their debut full-length album, Tell Where I Lie, is set for release April 8th on Dirty Hit and you can expect the songs contained within to dig in deep and not let go. The first video from the forthcoming album is for the single “Wolves,” and the stark imagery of being lost and abandoned strikes a recognizable nerve in us all.

Video | Wake Owl – Wild Country

[S]imply beautiful. There isn’t a better way to describe the video and title track from Wake Owl’s debut EP Wild Country, out now on Vagrant Records andĀ out April 15th (UK) on Dirty Hit Records. Singer Colyn Cameron began writing songs at around 16 and traveled the world for most of his teens and early 20’s, bouncing from country to country as a farmhand and laying the groundwork for what would eventually become an ode to his travels. Cameron now splits his time between Portland, OR and Vancouver, BC, creating Wild Country with his friend, and new bandmate, Aiden Brant-Briscall…
