Video | Guns of Navarone – Winnipeg Manitoba

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/37707994[/vimeo] Check out the video for “Winnepeg Manitoba,” off Austin’s Guns of Navarone’s Prize and Battlefield, a record that I can honestly say I’ve probably listened to too many times.  I really enjoy Reinisch’s vocals and have probably sung along to these songs on more than one occasion. Guns of Navarone will also be hosting their 3rd annual Barn Fire Social at South By Southwest on Saturday the 17th @ The Aquarium – 403 East 6th Street. http://gonavarone.com/

Video | The Rassle – 21

NYC’s the Rassle is a good ol rock & roll band that makes music that feels like it is pulled from another era & modernized and rocked the hell out.  Check out their video for their single “21,” a rollicking  full-speed-ahead  track that practically forces you to play at loud volumes (11 anyone?) If by some reason you don’t already have it, grab their free Introductions EP.  Those of you planning on attending SXSW plan on these guys play a few shows and showing everyone how they get down. Video | Cultfever – Collector

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/36380083[/vimeo] Check out the video Brooklyn’s Cultfever put out for their track “Collector,” a synthy, pop track that pounds the drums and fizzles and pops while the video’s narrative is a sort of modern day frankenstein.  Check it out, and grab their fantastic self title album.

Video | The Shins – Simple Song

Check out the new video for the Shins’ single “Simple Song,” which puts an interesting (very Wes Anderson like) narrative albeit dark spin on the single.  It features Mercer dying and giving his kids the home to whomever finds the deed, hidden somewhere inside the home.  I don’t want to ruin, so just give it a watch. The band’s forthcoming Port Of Morrow, which can be pre-ordered now at http://www.theshins.com/shop and is out March 20 on Aural Apothecary/Columbia.

Video | Dr. Dog – Warrior Man

If you haven’t grabbed Dr. Dog’s new album Be the Void, I’d accept buying it now as an apology.  As far as checking out this video, and giving their song “Warrior Man,” a listen and a view. Dr. Dog brought Be The Void back to their roots with raucous energy, and a youthful vibe. The album has a bit of a live sound to it, and represents their live shows quite accurately. Buy Be The Void

Video | Michael Kiwanuka – I’m Getting Ready

If you are previously unaware of Michael Kiwanuka, you’ve probably not seen my incessant posts about him. His warm voice lights this song up, and its one that you can listen to on repeat for days. Enough said. I couldn’t help but post the video for the song (although its the second I’m seeing). Its becoming one of my favorite songs of the year. His voice reminiscent of Otis Redding & Bill Withers, his music a little Dylan, and a little Nick Drake this song just can’t get out of my head.

Video | The Head and the Heart – Down In the Valley

Watch Seattle’s The Head and the Heart’s video for their standout track “Down in the Valley,” a video made of footage captured during the band’s most recent tour. This song had always been the absolute stand out for me, one that sticks with you for its warmth & beauty. If you don’t already own their debut, I highly suggest it. Buy The Head And The Heart
