What else is wildly surprising is how they consistently one up themselves again and again and again. In this video, Kulash and the boys shot outside in the desert with a Chevrolet Sonic outfitted with pneumatic arms designed to play instruments as they drove along a two mile course. As they drive along, the arms smash into objects and the guys sing along in the car. It’s pretty remarkable the set up, and how good it came out. For…

Its a track that I originally talked about back in November, and one that I still go back to again and again. The rock / synth soundscape is irresistible, and if you haven’t grabbed the 7″ now’s the time. Grab the 7?

Kiwanuka and company recorded this cover of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love, with BBC Sound at Maida Vale Studios. I kind of love the sitar styling on this laid back version of a great tune. I’m waiting for more details about Michael Kiwanuka’s upcoming LP, but you can grab his fantastic Home Again EP on itunes.

When Youth Lagoon released the video for Montana, I was floored by the elegance and beauty of both the video and the song. I don’t think the effort for July ups the ante, but it certainly is on par with Montana. What July does have, is a great climactic feel, as the music gets huge, the cinema follows along. Its such a great song, and video, a wonderful teamwork of artistry and sound.

Soft Swells is the collaborative effort of longtime indie songwriter Tim Williams and the talents of Brooklyn’s Phonograph, Matt Welsh. “Every Little Thing,” has a subtle California pop influence, and softly and tastefully incorporates electronic components, handclaps, and some huge percussion. Its a bit of an earworm of a track with a cool chorus line that will insert its sound into your head and you’ll be singing it in no time. Look for the album in February next year. The atmospheric haziness, and psychedelic and kaleidoscopic mirrored visuals are striking, and mesmerizing just like the song. Buy Freeclouds
