Video | Butcher the Bar – Alpha Street West

Butcher The Bar: Alpha Street West from morr music on Vimeo. Check out Manchester UK artist Butcher The Bar (aka Joel Nicholson) in his gravity defying video for “Alpha Street West.” Off his latest release, For Each A Future Tethered, the video comes just as he’s about to go on tour with Death Cab. If you go back a few months, I posted his song Bobby from said record. I was drawn to his earnest writing, intimate vocal styling a la Elliott Smith. Video | Androcles the Lion – Eulogy

Check out Androcles the Lion, an indie-pop / electronic outfit from Athens, GA.   Back in August they self-released their Kickstarter funded debut EP As Far As Blindness Could See, and recently released this lofi video for their track “Eulogy.” The visuals for the song are really entrancing, combining rhythmic events to sync the densely textured music and visually creates a really great connection with the song. Grab the EP off their bandcamp: androclesandthelion.bandcamp.com

Video | Benjamin Francis Leftwich – Atlas Hands

This song immediately jumped out to me, and I had to share. British musician Benjamin Francis Leftwich, will be release his album, Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm, his debut album, September 20. The song, “Atlas Hands,” is Elliott Smith-like (obviously) with its delicate vocal and rhythm.  Its a gorgeous sound, that will most certain garner a few plays and will be making the iTunes Indie Spotlight Free download.  Get out there and grab this track, and tomorrow the album.

New Music | Cowboy and Indian – Troubled Tracks

Austin, Texas-based band Cowboy and Indian has only released one single. But it’s a damn good one. The band, which features alternating vocals from Jesse Plemons, Jazz Mills and Daniel James, is one excellent alt-country, bluegrass, harmonica-filled folk outfit. Mills balances out the two fellas’ voices, but overall, the combinations of one, two or all three voices sounds fantastic. If Plemons, who is the lead singer on Troubled Tracks, looks familiar, that’s because he’s none other than Friday Night Lights’ Landry Clarke. The show ended its final season this past summer, and clearly Plemons has been putting his free…

Video | Noah and the Whale – Waiting For My Chance to Come

London’s  Noah and The Whale will be spending some time in our fair city in early November, an exciting upcoming show at the Paradise might be enough to whet our appetite, but they’ve also been busy releasing this video for single “Waiting For My Chance to Come” off their most recent album, Last Night On Earth.  In the most recent video for “Waiting For My Chance To Come” the band once again teams up with director Autumn de Wilde and heads to the docks to create this video.  It sort of reminds me of 80’s videos from Men at Work.  The strange far / wide shots and slow mo singing is reminiscent of videos past.

Grab their latest album, and see a show.

Video | Youth Lagoon – Montana

Youth Lagoon – Montana from Tyler T Williams on Vimeo. Every once in a while, someone makes a music video that truly empowers a song. This is that video. I had heard this song before, and not been such a fan, but after seeing this video, I’m a total fan of Youth Lagoon.  There’s not a lot to say, I’d rather you just see it.  I think its one of the most gorgeous videos I’ve seen this year.  Kudos to Tyler T. Williams for directing.  Youth Lagoon’s debut The Year of Hibernation is also available for pre-order, out September 27th (via Fat Possum in…
