Apex Manor – The Year of Magical Drinking

Under the Gun Apex Manor is the now defunct Broken West, lead by singer songwriter Ross Flournoy continuing the tradition set forth by the Broken West.  Apex Manor released their debut record, The Year of Magical Drinking, to the world on Merge Records this week, and by no stretch is it less than fantastic. Infectious tracks, fuzzy guitars, and a dialed down twangy infused power pop sprinkled all over this album give it a warm glow.   The album is immediately accessible and not in a bad way, its got this timeless quality to it, every song feels honest and…

New Album / Single | O’Death – Bugs

Bugs

O’Death just announced they’d be releasing a new album in April.  The album, entitled ‘Outside,’ will be released by Ernest Jenning Records on April 19th.  The lead single, Bugs, starts off a fragile quietly strummed folk track, and quickly explodes and retracts again and again.  This kind of tempo change is what makes O’Death so much fun to see, they evoke a certain free flowing ability to create a dramatic tension, and ultimately release it in their songs.  This style made them stand out during a fantastic show at this past Newport Folk Festival.

O’Death will be touring extensively leading up to the record’s release on April 19th.  See below for dates.

SLOWWAVE – Drag Lake Sin

Pour There are some beautiful sounds coming from the Pacific Northwest these days, I think you can put Slowwave among them.  The Tacoma based band has been playing together since their school days and are releasing their first record Drag Lake Sin.  Self produced and recorded, the band’s morose, love-sick sound is really something to behold, the embodiment of the environment, rainy day songs that are just as beautiful as drips on the window. The mix between tradition musical elements and electronic accompaniments stand out to make their sound even more beautiful. Grab their EP now, its only $5 and…
