Video | Yukon Blonde – Water

Check out Canada’s Yukon Blonde video for their track “Water” from their recently released Fire//Water EP on Dine Alone Records. Similar to their track “Fire” its a refreshing classic rock style tune with harmonies that are awe-inspiring. The video is remarkably beautiful, and tells the tale of a group of western travelers one of whom is on the wrong end of an arrow. Check it out, and grab the Fire // Water EP. Buy Fire//Water

Netherlands – Something or Nothing

Netherlands – Something or Nothing Just stumbled upon this super gorgeous dream pop song from UK band Netherlands. Its laced with some of the nicest harmonies I’ve heard in a long while. The single is to be part their debut ep released on 7″ and in digital. The delicate vocals and reverby dream like state is really something to behold. You can hear more from them on their soundcloud, and their website, linked below. Web | Soundcloud

New Music | Sandman Viper Command – Rough Love

Sandman Viper Command – Rough Love This being the second song I’m hearing from Canadian indie-rock band Sandman Viper Command, and I’m becoming overly obsessive. It takes a while to open up in the reserved song, but clicking in somewhere at the 3 minute mark are the release of some retro pop goodness, and then an all out rollicking solo that really makes this song. I can’t wait to hear more from this exciting band.

Review | Brown Bird – Salt for Salt

Brown Bird – Thunder and Lightning Brown Bird – Bilgewater When I got my first crack at hearing Brown Bird I was totally floored.  Amazed at how much great sound duo David Lamb & Morganeve Swain produce together.  Their influences are varied but reside mostly in roots rock, early American Folk, Gypsy music.  Salt for Salt is the perfect example of this blend.  Its a total joy to listen to. Its this dark side of folk that they mainly explore.Brown Bird has a tendency towards the dark side. Pulling from their influences Brown Bird uses haunting lyrics, varied rhythms and…

New Music | Nada Surf – When I Was Young

Nada Surf – When I Was Young Nada Surf is about to release their 7th record (4th on Barsuk), The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy, which will release next year (1/24/12). I’m digging this one because its reminding me of old tunes of theirs. I love how the lightly played acoustic part relents to a plugged in electric affair. Its a really nice full sound, and I’m looking forward to hearing the album next year.
