New Music | A Classic Education – Forever Boy

A Classic Education – Forever Boy A Classic Education gave away “Forever Boy” from their upcoming debut full length Call It Blazing. The track is “about a young boy, born in the gang, he runs from home, leaves his family and his arrogant father, follows his friends and joins another pack, feels his first moments of freedom, he’s far from home, that sense of blur is leaving, he almost feels invincible now, will he ever shake off that edginess and anxiety? He’s worried he can’t grow out of it.”  It’s got a blend of indie rock glistening elements with some jagged cuts and a style of…

New Music | Yukon Blonde – Fire

Yukon Blonde – Fire

Canada’s Yukon Blonde has announced the release of their Fire//Water EP on Dine Alone Records out October 11 in the US.   The first lick from the EP is their track “Fire,”  a refreshing classic rock style with harmonies that are inspiring.  The band is a little reminiscent of  CSN, they retain a timeless sound that is effervescent and a bit west coasty.  The song is a bit sing songy, and simplistic, but that simplicity is what will keep you humming along to this track over and over.

Look for the album next month.

Video | Benjamin Francis Leftwich – Atlas Hands

This song immediately jumped out to me, and I had to share. British musician Benjamin Francis Leftwich, will be release his album, Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm, his debut album, September 20. The song, “Atlas Hands,” is Elliott Smith-like (obviously) with its delicate vocal and rhythm.  Its a gorgeous sound, that will most certain garner a few plays and will be making the iTunes Indie Spotlight Free download.  Get out there and grab this track, and tomorrow the album.

Show Info | TONIGHT Liam Finn with Marques Toliver @ TT the Bears

Liam Finn – Cold Feet Tonight, the show to see is at TT the Bears.  The lineup is really fantastic, and if you’ve not heard of these guys, lets mark it down now as a must listen.  Kiwi Singer / Songwriter Liam Finn brings his pedigree (his dad was in Crowded House) some fantastic music and a raucous live show with him as he comes to our fair city.  His most recent release, FOMO, has one of the most catchy songs I’ve heard in a long time (Cold Feet available above).  The song perfectly blends a 60’s style bright sunny…

New Music | Radio Moscow – Little Eyes

Radio Moscow – Little Eyes

I don’t normally post this kind of brash, in your face type of music but when it comes to Radio Moscow, I’m a fan.  This heavy trio breathes the essence of drugged out hard thumping rock and roll music.  If the initial screech of Parker Griggs’ guitar doesn’t tell you that in the first 10 seconds, you aren’t listening.  Radio Moscow is prepping their third release titled The Great Escape of Leslie Magnafuzz.  A title so befitting of their soundscape.  Its fuzzy, screeching, 60’s hard rock and roll.  Griggs’ musicianship should be heralded in this fashion, he puts together some of the most ridiculous acid laced guitar soloing.  He’s remarkable.  These guys set the bar for retro psych hard rock; and its really exciting to get to hear more from them.

The Great Escape of Leslie Magnafuzz will be released October 11th through Alive Records.

If you haven’t heard of them, I would recommend grabbing their last release Brain Cycles.

New Music | A.A. Bondy – Surfer King

A.A. Bondy – Surfer King NPR debuted AA Bondy’s “Surfer King” off his recently released, album Believers, as the NPR song of the day yesterday.  So in the spirit of SOTD I gave it a listen.  Its a bit of a different feel from his earlier days of being a blues / folk troubadour.  This slow, ambling song tromps around on a feathery light, downtrodden, almost sobbing sound.  It’s a haunting song that is quite gorgeous in its ability to both be sad and comforting at the same time. New Music | Cowboy and Indian – Troubled Tracks

Austin, Texas-based band Cowboy and Indian has only released one single. But it’s a damn good one. The band, which features alternating vocals from Jesse Plemons, Jazz Mills and Daniel James, is one excellent alt-country, bluegrass, harmonica-filled folk outfit. Mills balances out the two fellas’ voices, but overall, the combinations of one, two or all three voices sounds fantastic. If Plemons, who is the lead singer on Troubled Tracks, looks familiar, that’s because he’s none other than Friday Night Lights’ Landry Clarke. The show ended its final season this past summer, and clearly Plemons has been putting his free…

New Music | The Dirty Lungs – Don’t Fucking Remind Me

The Dirty Lungs – Don’t Fucking Remind Me Lo Fi garage rock revivalists The Dirty Lungs play their version 1960s garage-rock scene in their featured single “Don’t Fucking Remind Me.” Its a little bit surf, a little bit garage, its a lot of dirt. The lo fi feel on this single doesn’t seem pretentious, it gives an authentic feel with its chamber vocals an simplistic recording. They sent me a message a long time ago; and I really should not have waited this long to bring it forth.  The song has been searing in my head for the last couple…
