Tennis – Cape Dory (Underwater Peoples Records) from RichsLaw on Vimeo. If you don’t read everything I write, well shame on you, but hey I can’t blame you, its about the music.  Tennis is the husband and wife duo who saved money for years, bought a sail boat and sailed on the east coast for 8 months.  They wrote songs about their experiences and then released a 7″ via Fire Talk Don’t forget to listen to their two other tracks, Marathon, and Baltimore. J Roddy Walston & the Business Makes Rock & Roll Look Lazy

To give you background, J Roddy Walston and the Business is a 4 piece rock quartet from the fine city of Baltimore, MD. They play rock music the way it was intended, loose and fast, wild and crazy.  Often upbeat and super catchy, this rock music is based on fantastic musicianship driven by piano and huge guitar solos.  Lets not forget the vocals and harmonies scream.  This is the kind of rock & roll you expect to be played in dive bars and dirty dance clubs.  Its all about dirty jeans and boots and setting the world on fire.  You know… what rock & roll is supposed to be.  Renaissance?

Turn your speakers wayyyy up to 11 and get on listening. Don’t Break the Needle, the opening track on J Roddy Walston and the Business’ self titled album opens with your ears with the first sounds of piano and the grainy, whiskey soaked vocals that make this track so perfect.

Previously released track  Brave Man’s Death, is a heart breaking narrative ballad like track that is a harrowing tale of honorable death.  The chorus erupts in a howl “I don’t wanna die in the middle of the night, I want a brave man’s death,” this song really shows off the true emotionality of the writing, and the vocals.

Another track released recently is  I Don’t Wanna Hear It, This is pure rock and roll with no excess and a great attitude, its got great sing along harmonies, this is one track you’ll be getting speeding tickets because of.

Get out there and buy this album if its the last thing you do.  J Roddy Walston and the Business has done rock & roll a great favor.  They have made them look lazy.

Checkin Out My Baby, is the first track on the EP; its wildly fuzzy, totally rockin, and totally belongs up high in your list of top party jams.  Learn How to Hang, teaches us…

Jukebox the Ghost covers Donna Lewis’ I Love You Always Forever

I Love You Always Forever I saw Jukebox the Ghost a few months ago, and they had played this cover.  The only thing I could do was tell people that it happened.  There was no substance to what could only be assumed as a silly lie.  Well, here’s a recording of them covering Donna Lewis’ song. http://www.jukeboxtheghost.com/

Built by Animals Corporate Syndrome EP

Teenage Rampage

Built by Animals is a rock trio based in Brooklyn, New York. Their music draws comparisons to Vampire Weekend, the Strokes and the Unicorns; to which I’d agree with.  Their EP, Corporate Syndrome is loosely a concept album chronicling the growth of someone from high school through the corporate arena.  Although I’m not sure the concept works, the songs do.  Teenage Rampage, is a party song that is quite catchy and you’ll find yourself really enjoying bobbing your head to it; the jangly guitars and the mild afro beat stylings, speak to a reminiscence of  Vampire Weekend’s A-Punk.

The EP is totally solid and worth a listen, so go out and Buy their EP, Corporate Syndrome here.

After the break check the video for Return to the Power Kingdom.
