Tonight | Freelance Whales at the Paradise

words by: Courtney Leigh Allen Day Off Enzymes If you’re partial to the night sky, or vaguely attracted to rooftops, you should probably be headed to the Paradise tonight to catch Freelance Whales. And arrive early because the five-piece band from Queens, New York is opening for the English indie rock band Foals. It’s been over a year since Freelance Whale’s debut album Weathervanes was released, so if I had to guess, I’d say that there’s an excellent chance that tonight we’ll get to hear some of their new stuff. They’ve released at least two singles, Enzymes and Day Off, in…

Show | The Acre CD Release tonight at TT the Bears

The Acre – Guilty Soul Boston’s The Acre is set to release their album Circa Trova tonight at TT the Bears place in Cambridge.  The sophomore album, was recorded with help from Chris McLaughlin (Aberdeen City, Mean Creek, Township).  With influences like Wilco, Bon Iver and Low Anthem in their minds they’ve created an album that merges those influences with their own style. The music is hilariously defined as ‘Amerigaze.’ A sort of Americana with the sleepy dreamy style of shoe gaze that creates this entrancing lush atmosphere that is absolutely gorgeous.  This is done so well in songs in…

New Music | Vandervelde – More Than You Can Feel

More Than You Can Feel

Dropping his first name for his upcoming single, David Vandervelde still sounds pretty damn awesome in his new track ‘More Than You Can Feel,’ a Neil Youngian like slow burner of a track that still contains that T-Rex influenced glam rock guitar that’s kind of fantastical. Check it out and consider buying his upcoming single in May (the 3rd) and checking out his spring tour.
