Review | Southeast Engine – Canary

Adeline Of The Applachian Mountains New Growth Southeast Engine is a Americana Folk band from Athens Ohio. I’ve had the distinct pleasure to have an early copy of this album. The album plays as a narrative about an Appalachian family at the turn of the 20th century. It’s epic, wonderful sounding, and a great story to hear. I’m not sure of the validity of the story, whether its fiction or nonfiction; regardless this is one great sounding album. The album plays like a troupe of backwoods nomads looking for a place to rest but frequently end up in town playing…

New Music | Manchester Orchestra – April Fool

Check out a new track from Manchester Orchestra off their upcoming album ‘Simple Math.’ This album is highly anticipated, and from the sounds of this track gonna be quite the awesome rock record. I really can’t wait to hear it in full.

Sorry for the autoplay issue I couldn’t figure out how to stop the player… but the song is awesome anyways.

Check ‘April Fool’ after the break.

New Music | Vetiver – Can’t You Tell

Can’t You Tell Vetiver recently released first single off upcoming album ‘The Errant Charm’ entitled Can’t You Tell. It’s a smooth, ambling jam that appears to be perfect for a slow travel day. Its got a subtle bouncy bass rhythm and light airy vocals that are near trance like. The Errant Charm releases June 14th on SubPop! Grab a free copy here:

Video | Telekinesis – Please Ask For Help

Its not a mystery that I love Telekinesis, and that I think Michael Lerner is one of the nicest guys in music. I accidentally missed posting this video, but I couldn’t help it because I love the song. The opening guitar riff belongs in a John Hughes movie, and I really can’t get enough of 12 Desperate Straight Lines; Telekinesis has a superb ability to write fantastic pop songs that are reminiscent of the past yet have a modern contemporary feel. It’s this pop sensibility that draws me to their music. I urge you, if you are in to them…

New Music | Brown Bird – Bilgewater

Bilgewater Last night while I was at the Newport Folk Fest lineup party the entertainment for the party was this band I hadn’t heard anything about. Not sure how I missed it, but these guys were totally amazing. Brown Bird, is a rootsy American folk band that seems to frequent the dark side of those influences. The music can be haunting, it can have foot stomping rhythm, and its always quite beautiful.  For just a two piece, the music is remarkably full sounding (thanks to David Lamb’s one-man band ability … and his amazing beard). The Rhode Island based band…
