New Music | Jonny Corndawg – The Life of a Bear

The Life of a Bear Thursday night while I was at the Paradise for Middle Brother, Deertick and Dawes I got a chance to hear Jonny Corndawg.  A friend of the bands’ he played a few of his songs during Dawes’ set… I couldn’t help but really love his fun sound, playful lyrics, country twang and if you were there, his dancing style.  During the show, he offered up downloads to some of his music, needless to say, I went out and downloaded them right away from his bandcamp.

Video | The Longwalls – Ghosts

The Longwalls have released a stop motion video for their track, Ghosts off their ‘Dark Academy EP‘.  It’s a folky, americana styled track, but has great a pop flavor / sensibility.  The Longwalls have also recently released a new LP on Staticmotor Recordings titled, Careers in Science. Video | The Head and the Heart – Lost in My Mind

Had I started to listen to the Head and the Heart’s self title album sooner than the end of december, it would have gone on to be one of my top 5 albums of 2010 (not sure where…but its awesome).  Here’s the video for one of the amazing tracks on the album Lost in My Mind. I urge you, if you like this to go out and  buy their album now, you will not regret it.

New Music | Ra Ra Riot – Too Dramatic (Remix)

Too Dramatic (The Morning Benders Remix) I don’t post too many remixes here, but I thought this one was pretty good.  The Morning Benders remixed Ra Ra Riot’s Too Dramatic (the Orchards).  Its a whole different sound, to a song I already liked… the song has been slowed down a bit, and given a electro back beat, and some background harmonizing.

Video | The Thermals – Not Like Any Other Feeling

The Thermals – “Not Like Any Other Feeling” from stereogum on Vimeo. The Thermals just released a video for song ‘Not Like Any Other Feeling,’ a charming, chalk drawn mixed media stop motion video covering a Space Station, a Rocket Ship, and some really fun stop motion visuals.  This playful sense in the video is really fun to watch,  and sort of fitting for the music and style of the Thermals. Readymade Breakup at TT’s Tonight

Erased (ACA) Inside All Along My good friends from the powerpop world, Readymade Breakup are bringing their talents to Boston tonight to open up for Dinosaur Feathers.  They have also released an a capella (esque) version of their track Erased to release to you off of their most recent album.  Back in October, they released their Self Titled sophomore album; I had done a few preview posts on these guys, and have yet to put together a formal album review, but based on the two albums I’ve got of theirs, and the multiple times I’ve seen them play live, they…

Video | Kingsley Flood – Mannequin Man (Live)

I always jump at the chance to see new stuff from Kingsley Flood, one of my favorite bands here in Boston. I recently got the pleasure of seeing them play before they headed out for South By Southwest.  Above is their live video for rockin’ song Mannequin Man. For those of you at South By Southwest, I highly recommend you take in one of their live performances.  These guys are a great band, they are a lot of fun, and a treat to have here in Boston because we get to see them so often. Consider this: Analog Edition

In case you haven’t heard, Matt from Everybody Taste has put together a new little venture under the title Analog Edition. Analog Edition is a vinyl record label and music zine with the goal of recording limited edition vinyl with the idea of elevating great music through a timeless format. His first venture, and one that I’d personally like to invest in,  is a double A-side 7” featuring “Hey Lover” and “Winter Song” by LA artist Blake Mills.  You can preorder the vinyl here. All of this seems like a fantastic idea, and Matt deserves all of the credit.  Check out Analog Edition,…
