The Luyas at the Paradise Tonight

Tiny Head Tonight at the Paradise Rock Club, we can welcome The Luyas with open arms.  Their upcoming album, Too Beautiful to Work will be released on February 22 (February 21, in the UK). I’ve gotten a chance to listen to the album, its a collection of echo-drenched space-age pop songs, its futurist but retro at the same time. The Luyas had a lot of help on the album as well. They enlisted talented friends such as Owen Pallett on violin, Colin Stetson adds saxophone and clarinet, Sarah Neufeld (who plays in a band called Arcade Fire) also plays violin. The…

Broken Records release track, A Darkness Rises Up

A Darkness Rises Up

In January, the new LP from Ediburgh’s Broken Records will release here stateside. In anticipation here is a brand new track “A Darkness Rises Up” which received a video treatment earlier in the month. Let Me Come Home, upcoming LP from Broken Records has already been released in the UK; here in the US we will have to wait for January 11th before we hear it in full.  For now check out the track, and if you want to hear it a second time, check the video below.

New Cave Singers track, Swim Club

Swim Club Glad to finally hear that Seattle’s Cave Singers will release their third album, No Witch early next year.  Its a follow up to their 2009 release ‘Welcome Joy,’ which to me was a fantastic entry in their body of work.  This new album, No Witch, will be their first release under jagjaguwar, and it was produced by Randall Dunn, who recently worked with labelmates Black Mountain.) “Swim Club” is a warm folk track that shows off singer Pete Quirk’s signature raspy voice and the simplistic yet lush sounds of a folk band that make great music. Video | Sufjan Stevens’ Too Much

Sufjan Stevens recently released his newest album ‘The Age of Adz’ an electronic effort that grew on me so much, its become one of my favorite albums of 2010; on top of that he put on the best show I’ve seen this year.  Sufjan is one of those artists that does some amazing things, and has so much incredible talent, its amazing to see.
