New Music + Interview | Andrew Combs – Canyons of My Mind

In the past 365 days, Andrew Combs has been anything but bored. He signed on with a killer label (New West Records,) got hitched to his longtime girlfriend, began prepping himself to be a father, and not long after this post goes live he’ll be officially dropping Canyons of My Mind, the follow up to his watershed album All These Dreams. Where Dreams wowed fans and critics with is combination of sonic wizardry and timeless lyricism, it feels to me like Canyons is more of a personal testament or a mark in time, addressing such themes as environmentalism (“Dirty Rain,”)…

Mixtape | March 2017

Another great month of music, almost too much of it, to keep the format of 40 songs from the month I ended up pulling a few favorites. But there are some great songs in here, and I know I will continue to come back to this mixtape as the year goes along. I’ve had a ton of fun putting this together, and hope you enjoy.

We’re psyched to hear new songs from Blondie (yes that Blondie), Andrew Combs, Matt Vazquez, the Shins, Foxygen, Father John Misty and tons more. 2015 | Steve’s Top Albums of the Year

Welp… I don’t think it would be at all possible to put this off any longer than I have. The yearly tradition of picking a favorite kid once again has me denying that I actually need to do it (they’re all special in their own way!) Someone much smarter than me once told me that limitations create value, and since time is also short, I’m going to adopt the style of the #50WordReview for each of the albums below. (For the record, they are in an order determined by the total number of track plays for all tracks on the…

It’s that time of year again for those of us in the music blogosphere world…the list of favorite albums of the year! There were SO many great records in 2015 and, as always, I found it extremely hard to keep to my regular listing of the ten best. These albums listed below are simply highlights in a standout crowd of bands and musicians that really made ’15 stellar! They may be in order for the sake of the almighty list…but I love them all equally. I hope you enjoy. 10. Chvrches – Every Open Eye The Scottish 3-piece have been…

Photos + Review | Andrew Combs @ Atwood’s Tavern

Photos by Boston Concert Photography On Tuesday, June 16th the music loving folks of the greater Boston area who gathered at the fantastic Atwood’s Tavern were treated to a night of genuine country charm and twang from Tennessee troubadour Andrew Combs and his terrific band. The Texas-born singer-songwriter currently calls Nashville home and his love of his adopted city was clear on stage that night, as each song made everyone in attendance feel like true southerners for a spell. With two stellar albums, an EP, and a number of singles to select from, the setlist hit all the right notes.…
