Song of the Week | Basement Revolver – Tree Trunks

The WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is back with the gorgeous new single, “Tree Trunks,” from Hamilton, Ontario’s Basement Revolver. We have been following the Canadian band for just over a year now and it has been fantastic to see the talented trio find their shoegaze footing. Following the release of their June 2016 debut single, “Johnny,” they have seen their hometown fanbase grow by leaps and bounds while steadily making waves here in the states. Basement Revolver are Chrisy Hurn (vocals/guitar), Nimal Agalawatte (bass/synth), and Brandon Munroe (drums) and their upcoming sophomore EP, Agatha, will be released July 21st on Yellow K Records in the states…

The second track comes a few months after the band dropped their debut song, “Johnny,” which received quite a bit of well deserved attention, and had music sites everywhere eagerly awaiting more shimmery Canadian melodies. “Words” begins with a crack of an amp coming to life, and as the drums and guitars kick in, singer Chrisy Hurn’s voice softens the tone, whirling her introspective lyrics through a lo-fi landscape created by band-mates Nimal Agalawatte (bass/synth), and Brandon Munroe (drums).…

New Music | Basement Revolver – Johnny

There are some new musicians in Hamilton, Ontario looking to shoegaze their way into the indie rock landscape and they are known as Basement Revolver. Sure it’s a crowded field, with not much elbow room, but I think the debut single, “Johnny,” from the Canadian trio fits in rather nicely. Basement Revolver are Chrisy Hurn (vocals/guitar), Nimal Agalawatte (bass/synth), and Brandon Munroe (drums), all recent college graduates who are now readying the release of their first EP rather than worrying about final exams. Not sure which one of those is more stressful but if “Johnny” was their thesis Music Savage…
