Photos + Review | Deer Tick + Ravi Shavi @ Rocks Off Cruises NYC

Last week, we boarded a cruise ship bound to plod along the NYC’s East River. With us, were 200 fans lucky enough to catch a 3 hour tour of the river and upper bay and sets from Providence based rockers Deer Tick and openers Ravi Shavi. Opening the day was Providence’s Ravi Shavi who aptly rocked the boat with a (wait for it) boatload of swagger and sizzle, if only to relent the crowd briefly before Deer Tick climbed on stage. A Tick show never disappoints, and this wouldn’t be the first time we’ve spent booze cruising with this band. It’s…

2017 | Ryan D’s Top Albums & EPs of the Year

Once again it has been one hell of a year! And once again I mean that in the absolute best and absolute worst of ways for 2017. When everything around us fell apart we had some AMAZING music to help see us through it all. There were so many top-notch albums and EPs released in 2017 which made the year more tolerable than it otherwise should have been. When all else fails at least we have music! These albums and EPs listed below are highlights in a standout crowd of bands and musicians that made it yet another great year for music lovers…

Mixtape | July 2017

Press Play! Summer is in full force, July has been a great month to us. We’ve got the reemergence of Wolf Parade!! new song from St. Vincent, records from Arcade Fire and Toro y Moi, and tons of stuff in between. There’s a little bit of everything in this mixtape, from the indie pop persuasion, to the folk contingent, even a pinch of hip hop. I Hope you dig our mix, and please as always let us know what songs should have been on the mix.

Mixtape | June 2017

Halfway through the year, and still on a roll with such great, fresh music coming out each month. This month’s mixtape is super exciting as always, there’s a great variety of music that I’m excited about. High on my list is Son Little’s Blue Magic, which I haven’t been able to put down. I Hope you dig our mix, and please as always let us know what songs should have been on the mix.

Photos + Review | Deer Tick + Mutual Benefit @ Somerville Theatre

Wednesdays, they don’t usually have much going for them. It’s just this boring old middle of the week day where you have just battled through the first two work days and the weekend is still a tease on the horizon. That’s why I pretty much hate Wednesdays. Unless of course there is an amazing show to attend that makes everything all right for a while. On March 16th the Music Savage gang, and a few hundred of our friends, had a particularly fantastic Wednesday because we had all day to anticipate an evening at Somerville Theater with Rhode Island’s one and…
