More than two years after the release of their self-titled third studio album, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros have just teased their latest efforts with the release of the jazzy and atmospheric “Hot Coals.” Fronted by falsetto vocals, the track itself starts sparsely but smoothly becomes an example of a rhythm and piano driven anthem of sorts. So much so, you can see this song becoming the backdrop to free-styled lyrics inspired by whatever social movement Alex Ebert feels is worthy of attention at any moment. Per Ebert, the bands enigmatic leader: “We’ve been on for a while now,…

The troupe that is Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros has finally released another track title “Better Days,” which will appear on the band’s forthcoming self-titled third studio album out July 23rd. Better Days feels like an extension of their previous work, rattling percussions, boatloads of gang chorals, an uplifting tone, and almost gives a feeling of spirituality a warm and fuzzy kind of feeling, which seems to be their shtick. It’s definitely a catchy tune that people are going to gobble up.

David Ramirez – Apologies – Singer / Songwriter David Ramirez wrote the wonderfully introspective folk album that is at times extremely downtrodden and sad, it’s a personal, wear your heart-on-your-sleeves kind of record, that’s posed in a songwriter / storyteller fashion. With his rough voice, and country-tinged music, this may be the most telling and open album of the year, and that is a great thing. Listen: David Ramirez – Paper Thin | Buy: Apologies 44. Reptar – Body Faucet – This may be the most dance-worthy album of the year, every song is laden with perfect beats that will get…
13 CommentsEdward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros – Man On Fire It would not be foolish to think that a breakout band, with a breakout song that took the world by storm, would have a hard time following up on the success that followed. It would be foolish however to think that of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. The new album “Here” finds the lead singer Alex Ebert and his merry band of musicians in fine, folk rock form, wearing the past 2 years of extraordinary success like a badge of honor. The album opens with the rambling, dreamy “Man…

Leave a CommentEdward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros – Man On Fire It has been a long time coming, but finally a track has surfaced for the highly anticipated followup to Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros’ debut album. The first track “Man on Fire,” is a folky, sing-along track that has a quiet energy that builds upon itself through its choruses and seems to emanate a lot of what we have seen and heard from their past effort, the jangles, tender instrumentations and the beautiful harmonies. It’s exciting to finally hear new material, and this really makes me want to hear…
