[C]hicago’s Filligar is prepping a brand new single that I’m pretty excited about, “Motor Shine,” a fresh sound for a band that might need a break, they’ve been touring relentlessly for the last 8 years, and specifically the last few after gaining big press from all over with their 2010 effort The Nerve, and their ’13 effort Hexagon, both big favorites to my ears.

With “Motor Shine,” you can hear it all over the cool melodies, and laid back feel that “all came directly or indirectly from spending time on the beach,” Gibson said of the new song. It’s a breath of fresh air, from a band that might just need it, although they probably wont take the time to smell the roses.

[T]ouring like mad has turned Chicago band Filligar is turning the band into what everyone thought they could become, a force in music. Their live show has always shown who they were, a brash young group who definitely had the makings of something special, they almost seemed to explode with energy, and passion, and in this new track, “New Local,” the band drives the song and sound with pounding drums, pulsing piano riffs and big guitar s all with a giant dash of bombast. If this track doesn’t lift you out of your seat, you might not have a soul.

Look for New Local on Filligar’s upcoming record titled, Hexagon, out July 23rd.
