Mixtape | February 2018

The month of February is over and we’re well on our way into 2018 now and as the temperatures warm up the new music is flowing. New stuff from Eels, to Chromeo, CHVRCHES, Caroline Rose, Courtney Barnett, Field Report and so much more. I’m so so stoked on this mixtape and I hope you like it as much as I do. As always, let us know what we’ve missed (if anything), and please do enjoy.

Mixtape | October 2017

Press Play October was a spooky good month for new music, and I’m psyched for the broad range of music that we’ve got on this playlist. Everything from power pop jams to jangly americana to lo-fi ambling indie rock. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. As always if there’s something I missed, please leave a comment and tell me what it is.

2014 | Steve’s Top Albums of the Year + Stuff

The practice of ranking the year’s albums is certainly one that I approach with some hesitation. Like Kyle, I was tempted to not even try to rank them. I mean, ask me what the best album of the year is and — depending on my mood and the day’s events — I’ll likely give you a different answer each time. However, the geek in me wants to give things some sort of order, so I’m going to resort to statistics and order them by total number of plays for all songs on the album, on all of my devices. Sound…

2014 | Kyle’s Record Recommends Day 1

It’s the end of the year and it’s time to wrap up everything we loved, and this year I’d like to make this a buyers recommendation for records this year. At this point in my life, these are all records I think you should drop $20 on and spin the vinyl like there is no tomorrow. I didn’t think it was proper to put these in any type of order although most people who I discuss music with will probably know what my number one is. Without further ado, here are my recommendations for records to buy that released in…

Photos | Jonah Tolchin + Christopher Paul Stelling + Haunt the House @ The Columbus Theatre

Photos by Boston Concert Photography There’s a certain air about some shows. An air that you can feel as the music begins (or even before) and that lets you know you were partisan to something pretty damn special. As part of a tour supporting Jonah Tolchin‘s (pretty fucking amazing) sophomore release “Clover Lane,” Tolchin, Christopher Paul Stelling and Haunt the House strolled into one of my favorite places in Providence — The Columbus Theatre — last Friday night and laid claim to the best show of the weekend. Haunt the House (a.k.a. Will Houlihan) more than filled in for a…

Jonah Tolchin – Criminal Man

Jonah Tolchin – Criminal Man I’ve been listening quite a bit to a musician by the name of Jonah Tolchin, a 19 year old kid that sings songs that are at times quite dazzling. I mention his age because you just won’t guess it. He sings with the soul of a man 3 times his age. Part of the allure comes from his rather deep voice, its a bit grizzly, rough and almost whiskey soaked. I’m sharing his fantastic track “Criminal Man,” the title track from his album. The sorrowful, raspy vocals layered upon a minimalistic plucking of his guitar…
