New Music | La Sera – Queens

Los Angeles musician Katy Goodman recently turned her band La Sera into a duo that now includes her husband Todd Wisenbaker, and earlier this year the two released their first album together Music for Listening to Music to. On September 30th they will be releasing a digital only EP titled Queens and we have the title-track to share with you all.

“Queens” is a guitar driven number with back n’ forth vocals by Goodman and Wisenbaker adding a pleasant one-two punch of rock n’ roll oomph. I would classify it as a perfect summer song. Yeah, I know summer is almost over but you can still hold on tight to the last waning days with this new single turned up loud.

La Sera will embark on a cross country tour starting in October with a stop at Brookline Teen Center here in Boston on 10/25.

Live Review | Father John Misty and La Sera at Paradise Rock Club

Photos by Boston Concert Photography [L]ast Thursday the Music Savage gang converged on Paradise Rock Club to catch the mystical, dancing-machine otherwise known as Father John Misty, aka J. Tillman. To watch this performance and not shake it yourself is an exercise in futility, and a look around the club proved that nobody was resisting the urge to follow the lanky ringleader in all his spastic glory. The set began with “Fun Times in Babylon,” which is also how the album Fear Fun begins, and the crowd sang along with their hands in the air, as if being preached to…

La Sera – Devil Hearts Grow

Devil Hearts Grow This isn’t the first time La Sera has been here, they made a fantastic video about a murderous girlfriend which got my attention (through my love of horror, and for good music) and fast forward to today when I hear a second single entitled Devil Hearts Grow.  The song comes from La Sera’s self-titled album, which came out this week on HardlyArt.  I haven’t gotten an opportunity to listen the album over, but by the sounds of these two tracks I’m very excited to hear it.  The retro choir pop style that seems to be going around…

La Sera – Never Come Around

La Sera – Never Come Around from Brady Hall on Vimeo. I meant to post this up a few weeks ago, but never got around to it…  it made my October Mixtape, so if you’ve downloaded that, you’ve heard this but its worth getting a full mention up here so… La Sera’s ‘Never Come Around‘ is the lead single from their forthcoming debut full length album (sometime early 2011) and will also make it on a 7″ that comes out tomorrow (November 16th.)  It will get an awesome clear / red vinyl treatment, and features an exclusive b-side ‘Behind Your…
