Other Lives – Take Us Alive

[T]he hard working Stillwater, OK band Other Lives recently wrapped up their European tour and will be hitting the states one last time before heading into the studio to work on their third album. Even with that type of schedule they still found the time to create a new EP titled Mind the Gap, out October 23rd on tbd records. Take a listen to the haunting track “Take Us Alive,”off the forthcoming release, and check them out live in Boston when they play Paradise Rock Club on November 27th.

Other Lives has Thom Yorke’s seal of approval, having tapped them to open for the first leg of Radiohead’s US tour earlier this year, and that type of recognition is much deserved.

Other Lives – Tamer Animals Other Lives latest album Tamer Animals is lush and haunting and epic. The four guys and one lady from Stillwater, Oklahoma have created an album, where layer after layer of sound beautifully transports you elsewhere. Whether a dense forest or a far away space scape (as seen in their music video for For 12) this entire album is simply otherworldly. There are numerous layers that weave in and out of each song. Trumpets and horns on Dark Horse add an urgency to the song, and the hmmm-ing and oooohhhh-ing found in the album’s title track…

Video | Other Lives – For 12

Check out the video Other Lives’ For 12 a surreal sounding song off of their recently released album ‘Tamer Animals.’ When I originally heard the song, it seemed as though it would be something very cinematic and fantastical. But the visuals I saw in my head were deep wooded area with the band gently playing the song… and this space odyssey is not at all that. But it strangely fits the song. Tamer Animals is one fantastic and beautiful album that you’ve got to hear (especially fans of Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes).

Paste got the honors to share Other Lives newest single ‘Tamer Animals’ (to go along with For 12) the title track on their upcoming (May 10) album which is highly anticipated and from how many times I’ve listened to it over the last few days… well worth the anticipation. Its a gorgeous, lush album that music lovers are really going to enjoy.

New Music | Other Lives – For 12

Other Lives have this surreal, ethereal sound to them that is parlayed into their most recent released single ‘For 12.’ The single in question comes from their forthcoming album ‘Tamer Animals‘ which is slated to release May 17th on tbd records.

The song sounds as though it comes from a fantasy world in a deep wooded area with its gentle strumming, quietly almost hummed vocals and lush accompanying string assortments. They’ve created a beautiful, angelic yet easily listenable sound that is reminiscent of a softer Fleet Foxes.
