Review | Pickwick at TT the Bear’s

Lady Luck (feat. Sharon Van Etten) Pickwick made their first visit to Boston on April 25th with a packed show at TT the Bear’s in Cambridge. They played a solid set in support of their recently released debut, Can’t Talk Medicine, and threw in a few covers for fun. It was nearly impossible to dodge the sweat flying from the stage, but everyone was too busy singing along to care. The guys took the stage and immediately launched into Myths. The long and rambling instrumental track was the perfect way to draw out the crowd before they launched into Brother…

Review | Pickwick – Can’t Talk Medicine

[A]bout a year and a half ago we posted about Seattle’s Pickwick, a group of 6 guys with a whole lot of soul. Our post wasn’t about a new track, or an album review, just a video of the guys performing a few tracks in a basement, as part of Seattle-based music blog Sound on the Sound’s video series. Our plea? In The Nick Of Time by Kevin Long I’ve got a favorite new hobby. It’s hanging out on Bandcamp and searching for new music under tags such as ‘Folk’ and ‘Seattle’. And in doing so I stumbled across Kevin Long’s page for his new LP Small Town Talk. I was immediately blown away by the first track Home Town Remedy. Long’s voice is so crisp and clear, that it was instantly likeable. And as I read on about the album, I recognized another name, Seattle’s own master mixer/sound engineer Kory Kruckenberg, who mixed Long’s album. It seems that if Kruckenberg…
