Mixtape | April 2018

The month of April is over, and we’re finally getting out from under our winter form and into the allergy season. There was tons of new great music, and I slipped in a cover on this mixtape. I hope you like it as much as I do. As always, let us know what we’ve missed (if anything), and please do enjoy.

Mixtape | May 2017

I’m super excited to put this mixtape out, May was a super fun month of music, from a bunch of bands I have previously loved, and a lot lot lot of new bands putting out really fresh stuff. So if you are interested in a mix that spans Dale Watson to Carly Rae Jepsen, this is the one for you. I Hope you dig our mix, and please as always let us know what songs should have been on the mix.

2014 | Steve’s Top Albums of the Year + Stuff

The practice of ranking the year’s albums is certainly one that I approach with some hesitation. Like Kyle, I was tempted to not even try to rank them. I mean, ask me what the best album of the year is and — depending on my mood and the day’s events — I’ll likely give you a different answer each time. However, the geek in me wants to give things some sort of order, so I’m going to resort to statistics and order them by total number of plays for all songs on the album, on all of my devices. Sound…

2014 | Kyle’s Record Recommends Part 2

It’s the end of the year and it’s time to wrap up everything we loved, and this year I’d like to make this a buyers recommendation for records this year. At this point in my life, these are all records I think you should drop $20 on and spin the vinyl like there is no tomorrow. I didn’t think it was proper to put these in any type of order although most people who I discuss music with will probably know what my number one is. Without further ado, here are my recommendations for records to buy that released in…

Photos + Review | Shakey Graves + Joe Sundell + Esme Patterson @ The Sinclair

Photos by Boston Concert Photography Well last Friday night the sold-out Sinclair crowd was treated to a spectacular show of rock n’ roll force when Austin musician, Alejandro Rose-Garcia, aka Shakey Graves, reminded us all of how a great live show is supposed to go down. Along for the ride were fellow Texas musician Joe Sundell and Denver songstress Esme Patterson, both of whom paved the way to our collective hearts with fantastic opening sets. Shakey took to the stage to thunderous applause and immediately kicked into the high-octane number “Roll The Bones,” which got everyone shaking along as the night’s…

Tonight | Shakey Graves w/ Esme Patterson, and Joe Sundell @ The Sinclair

Attention friends of Music Savage…especially those in the Greater Boston area. Tonight we are in for a boot-stompin’, hand-clapping good time as we welcome back Austin troubadour Alejandro Rose-Garcia, aka Shakey Graves, to our fair city. The last time the Texas tallboy was in our neck of the woods was back in September 2013 when he opened for Shovels & Rope at the Royale. Man that was a show! I also got to see Shakey shake the stage at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island this year, after which I turned to Kyle and said “Well that’s it… he will…
