Photos | The Ballroom Thieves + Darlingside @ Old South Meeting House

It seems pretty fitting that just days after releasing their new single “Do Something”—an open “letter to our con-man president”—The Ballroom Thieves headline the first ever musical performance at the Old South Meeting House in their home city of Boston. On this evening, the same building that is widely considered the birthplace of the American Revolution hosted a band and a community gathering not only to spend time listening to music that calms, but music that incites action and response. Joined by local favorites Darlingside as a surprise opener, I can say with high levels of certainty that the Thieves…

Mixtape | October 2017

Press Play October was a spooky good month for new music, and I’m psyched for the broad range of music that we’ve got on this playlist. Everything from power pop jams to jangly americana to lo-fi ambling indie rock. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. As always if there’s something I missed, please leave a comment and tell me what it is.

Photos | The Ballroom Thieves @ Island Creek Oysters Pop-up Shop

What do you get when you put The Ballroom Thieves, Island Creek Oysters, and Newport Folk Festival together on a warm December Monday night on Boston’s Newbury Street? Well all signs would point to damn good time and all those signs would be right. This past Monday, a small crowd of lucky folks crowded into the ICO pop-up shop (at 142 Newbury St., just in case you’re looking for a last minute present for the mothershuckers on your list) and were treated to good beer, fantastic oysters and a short set of great tunes from the Thieves. And even after…

Review + Photos | Newport Folk Festival Presents: Wheeler Brothers, The Ballroom Thieves, & Houndmouth @ The Royale Boston

[L]ast week a warm Southern breeze worked it’s way up through the Midwest and blew out the doors of the Royale here in Boston. On November 14th those lucky enough to know a stellar line-up when they see it were treated to a wild rumpus of a good time when the Wheeler Brothers and Houndmouth tour pulled into town. The two bands hit the road together two weeks ago and called upon local favorites The Ballroom Thieves to join in on the fun. The packed crowd expected to stomp their Boston boots and raise their beers in glory…and they did!…

Photos by Boston Concert Photography [S]aturday night’s show to see was within the confines of a sold out Great Scott. Nashville folk rockers The Apache Relay and local favorites The Ballroom Thieves stormed the venue and brought along a couple hundred feverish fans, that made even a cold night, a hot, rocking event for the crowd.
