Song of the Week | The Lone Bellow – Time’s Always Leaving

This week’s WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is on the fantastic song, “Time’s Always Leaving,” from Brooklyn, New York’s The Lone Bellow. It’s the first single released from the band’s third studio album, Walk Into A Storm, which will be released September 15th on Descendant Records/ Sony Music Masterworks. The Lone Bellow started as a solo project by Georgia native Zach Williams who began songwriting in 2005 to help cope with his emotions during a particularly difficult family crisis. For the next few years the musician wrote and performed songs as Zach Williams & The Lone Bellow. Williams moved to…

Photos | The Lone Bellow w/ Will Dailey @ The Paradise Rock Club

Brooklyn’s The Lone Bellow kicked off their 2015 tour right here in Boston on Thursday, February 12th at the Paradise Rock Club. The sold-out crowd was rewarded for finding a way to the venue through the arctic tundra with a barnburner of a show that melted the hearts and minds of even the most frozen of souls. The trio recently released their fantastic sophomore LP, Then Came The Morning, and it has taken the Americana music world by storm. One thing you can expect from a Lone Bellow show is that the audience will already know all the words to the new material…

2013 | Steve’s Top 12 (?) Albums of the Year

[W]elp, it’s that time of the year again — time to try and stack rank the albums I’ve spent my life with over the past year. Weighing intangible against intangible and doing my best to pick which one comes out on top! In some ways, this annual ritual makes me feel like I’m trying to pick a favorite kid. Actually, doing that might be easier. I keed, I keed. No DSS calls please. Below are my top albums for the year and even one bonus suggestion which I was lucky enough to get a preview of during 2013, but that…

2013 | Kyle’s Top Records 15 – 11

15. The Lone Bellow – Self Titled [A]s much as I gripe about The Lone Bellow’s self-titled debut, for me when I hear it, I can’t help but think it’s formulaic, an undeniable focus group created music for maximum broad appeal, and then I press play, and the urge to not like the music that comes pouring out of this Brooklyn trio melts, and I realize just how undeniably great the record is. You can stick your trend derivative anti-qualifiers in a sack, this record is fantastic and they did it on their first try. The Tracks > Two…

Review + Photos | The Lone Bellow + Aoife O’Donovan @ The Paradise

Photos by Boston Concert Photography [B]rooklyn band The Lone Bellow took to the stage last Wednesday night to a roar from the sold-out crowd that had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the newest heavy-hitters on the Americana rock n’ roll map. 2013 has been kind to the trio and their commitment to the road, combined with multiple visits to each state over the course of the year, have helped in spreading the word far and wide Zach Williams (guitar, vocals), Kanene Pipkin, (mandolin, vocals) and  Brian Elmquist (guitar, vocals) have introduced deeper layers of sound to the Lone Bellow…
