Press Play October was a spooky good month for new music, and I’m psyched for the broad range of music that we’ve got on this playlist. Everything from power pop jams to jangly americana to lo-fi ambling indie rock. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. As always if there’s something I missed, please leave a comment and tell me what it is.

Leave a Comment[I] couldn’t be more excited than to find out that Toronto’s Rural Alberta Advantage was releasing a new record titled, Mended with Gold, September 30th and this blistering single, “Terrified,” was released as well. To say that the new record from The RAA is highly anticipated is putting it lightly, this band is one of the most exciting bands to see live, they’ve put out 2 excellent records and now the second 3 year timespan, we’ve got a new record to sink our teeth in. If you aren’t already extremely excited, I’m guessing you haven’t listened to the ’08 Hometowns, or ’11s Departing, two of the best records to come from the great white north, then do yourself a favor, and jump right in and start here.
The RAA will be touring quite extensively in NA and EU making a final North American stop here in Boston. See you there in November.

Fresh off their fantastic release of their album, Departing (last week) they’ll be in our fine city tonight, opened by a really fantastic band in Pepper Rabbit. If you haven’t heard of the RAA, I suggest you point yourself to the above mp3, or grab their latest album here. The Rural Alberta Advantage Harvest Moon Pepper Rabbit is an experimental indie duo out from LA. Their music runs the gamut from accordions to ukulele to trumpets and everything in between (even a clarinet song). It’s…

Check out the video for The Rural Alberta Advantage’s Stamp, from the album Departing, out March 1, 2011 on Saddle Creek. I really am excited to hear this album, Hometowns, was one of my favorite albums in ’09; and it sounds like this one could be just as good.
Leave a CommentStamp Rural Alberta Advantage’s debut release, Hometowns, was one of my favorites from 2008, their music is earnest, expressive, and full of energy. Their upcoming release, Departing will release on 3/1 via Saddle Creek. Check out the new track, Stamp, and if you haven’t heard Hometowns, you should grab that now.
