Mixtape | December 2017

Press Play Our final month of the year has officially been closed. This has been a fantastic music year, and I’ve been having a lot of fun putting together these monthly mixes again. It’s great to chronicle a year based on what you’ve been listening to, and we’re so lucky these days to have enough new music each month to put together these. I hope you enjoy some new tunes over your holiday break, and please let me know what I might have missed this month.

2016 | Steve’s Top Albums of the Year

It would be no exaggeration to say that this was a stormy year that was challenging for a lot of people on a lot of different levels. From the first week of January to the waning moments of the December, the albums on this list—along with probably a hundred others—gave me something to continually look forward to. I hope they did the same for you,…

When everything around us fell apart we had some fantastic music to help see us through it all. There were so many amazing albums and singles released in 2016, which made the year more tolerable than it otherwise should have been. When all else fails at least we have music! You’ve read the rest now it’s time for the BEST! These albums listed below are simply highlights in a standout crowd of bands and musicians that made ’16 a great year for…

Photos + Review | Whitney + Hoops @ Great Scott

If you were lucky enough to be at one of the two sold-out Whitney shows at Great Scott on Sunday, October 9th you witnessed a band in the throes of a breakthrough year, currently on a breakout tour in support of one of my favorite albums of the year, Light Upon The Lake, and having one hell of a good time. The capacity crowd was expecting something great and the Chicago boys did not disappoint. Max Kakacek and Julien Ehrlich are no strangers to the music landscape (both were in the fantastic band Smith Westerns and Ehrlich played drums for Unknown Mortal Orchestra)…
