Song of the Week | We Were Promised Jetpacks – Hanging In

The WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is brightly focused on the killer new single, “Hanging In,” off the upcoming album, The More I Sleep The Less I Dream, from Edinburgh’s We Were Promised Jetpacks. We have been huge fans of the Scottish band since their outstanding debut album, These Four Walls, was released in 2009.

Since that time it’s been a hectic few years of writing, recording and touring for the band. With 2011’s In the Pit of the Stomach and 2014’s Unravelling the guys have traveled the world numerous times over, growing their fan-base exponentially in every country they visited. That kind of non-stop schedule would take a toll on anybody! They returned home to reconnect with family and focus on writing the new record, which will be self-released on September 14th.

We Were Promised Jetpack are Adam Thompson (vocals/guitar), Michael Palmer (guitar), Sean Smith (bass) and Darren Lackie (drums), and as I have said many, many times here on the site…these guys are a force to be reckoned with live! We are very fortunate here in Boston because they frequent our city on a regular basis and will return once again on Friday, October 26th for a stop at Brighton Music Hall.

One word. GO!

Song of the Week | East of My Youth – Broken Glass

The new WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight shines down on Reykjavik and highlights the beautifully majestic single, “Broken Glass,” from Icelandic duo East of My Youth. The new song follows the release of their well received self-titled debut EP, which was released in January through the band’s own label West Of My Future LTD. East Of My Youth have been crafting their brand of ethereal electro-pop since 2015 when high school friends Herdís Stefánsdóttir and Thelma Marín Jónsdóttiran joined their artistic forces together to create a sound that captures the dramatic beauty of Iceland’s sweeping glacier and volcanic landscape. I’d call the duo a…

Song of the Week | Kelsey Kerrigan – Driving Around

Today we focus the WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight directly on the fantastic debut single, “Driving Around,” from the talented L.A. musician Kelsey Kerrigan’s upcoming album due to be released this fall. Kerrigan began work on the record at Sunset Sound Recorders while pursuing a degree in audio engineering and production at Los Angeles Recording School. A fateful meeting with Ryan Adams (Yes THAT Ryan Adams) would help to shape the sound and style of her work, providing a musical compass to keep the song-writing on track even while immersed in her studies. It would seem as though everything is falling into place now that the album is complete and…

Song of the Week | Pokey LaFarge – Better Man Than Me

Photo credit: Nate Burrell The latest WFMO & Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is focused on the fantastic new single “Better Man Than Me” from St. Louis musician Pokey LaFarge. The hip-shaking song is from his highly anticipated new album, Manic Revelations, out May 19th via Rounder Records and is now available for pre-order. This is his eighth studio release (the second for Rounder) and the new album’s title refers to the state of mind artists find themselves in during the creation process. LaFarge debuted his song-writing talent to the world in 2006 with his self-released solo record, Marmalade. In 2009 the songwriter…
