There’s a really great show going on tonight at Great Scott and I hope everyone is planning on attending. Brown Bird, is a rootsy American folk band that seems to frequent the dark side of those influences who is fresh off a fantastic showing at the Newport Folk Festival, Rhode Island’s Brown Bird brings their brand of dark folk to our ears tonight at Great Scott.
The music can be haunting, it can have foot stomping rhythm, and its always quite beautiful. For just a two piece, the music is remarkably full sounding and its going to be particularly amazing on such a small stage.
Opening for Brown Bird is Boston’s Coyote Kolb, an americana band with some southern rock flair. I saw them back in August when they played the JP Music Festival, and trust me, if you are a fan of the genre, these guys are a total joy to hear, and see live. Their music is that foot stomping southern rock and roll mixed with a splash of blues rock that really is something completely surprising and authentic sounding. They are a must see band that is local to us Bostonians.
It’s looking to be a great night, and I hope to see everyone out. Tix are $8.
