New Music | Radiolucent – Rivertown

[R]ivertown is a murder ballad of epic proportions. It’s about loyalty & heritage, indignation, revenge, redemption, self-destruction & pine trees… everything that real Southern American music should cover. It’s the kind of song that makes you well up. Radiolucent checks off church harmonies, slide guitar, & b3 organ on their way to delivering what you might call an archetype. And while I guess blogs are more suited for posting 3 minute singles than 8 minute long, slow burning deep cuts, no other song on the record really encapsulates the band like Rivertown. It’s long enough, & it’s good enough, to justify grabbing some headphones & maybe a cold one, shuttin’ your eyeballs & gettin’ lost for a little bit.

Late last year Radiolucent cut 11 songs to tape in 2 days at Stonehenge Studios in Atlanta, GA with Jim Zumpano. The result was Turn Me On & Turn Me Loose, their debut album, released this summer. The band is currently touring the southeast, you can keep up with live dates at their Facebook or buy the album on iTunes. (They’re currently sold out of physical copies.)

  1. Got a little Jackson Browne in it don’t it? At least in the beginning. Big thunderous guitars. Love it!
