The latest WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is focused on the beautiful new single “Body Lose” from UK duo Meadowlark. The track is from their debut album, Postcards, out June 30th via Allpoints and can be purchased on the band’s website.
You may recognize Kate from her series of cover songs on YouTube, including her well received versions of Adele’s “Someone Like You,” and Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi.” McGill no longer wanted to be known as the singer who only performs covers and was becoming frustrated with where her music career was going when she met fellow musician Dan Broadley, who was also looking for a new musical path. In 2014 they formed Meadowlark and began a new journey together.
The song, “Body Lose,” shows the new direction in sound and style that can be found on the their latest album. The ambient electronic beat that Broadley builds slowly and effortlessly around McGill’s ethereal voice forms a song that digs in deep and refuses to let go. No matter how many times you listen you find a need to press play again. That is the definition of a great song.
