The latest WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight is focused once again on Gothenburg, Sweden and is aimed on the dance-tastic new single, “Lover Chanting,” from Little Dragon. It’s the first single and title-track from the Swedish quartet’s first ever EP and their first release with the iconic label Ninja Tune.
Little Dragon formed in 1996 but did not release any music until a decade later in 2006. They made a huge splash in the electronic music scene with their double A-side 7? single, “Twice”/”Test,” which was followed a year later by their self-titled debut album. Since then, they have released five studio albums and a “Best Of” collection. Lead singer and percussionist Yukimi Nagano, along with bandmates Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrik Källgren Wallin (bass) and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards), were also featured on the Gorillaz 2010 album Plastic Beach.
Speaking of working with the Gorillaz gang, Little Dragon begin a week long tour with Damon Albarn and his crew right here in Boston at the TD Garden on Sunday October 14th. With the collaborative work between the two bands it is a sure fire bet that they will be taking the stage together during their time on the road. You won’t want to miss this one!
