The latest edition of the WFMO X Music Savage Show “Song of the Week” spotlight shines down on Australia and focuses on Melbourne’s The Florets. The wonderful new song, “Shapeshift,” is the band’s third single and follows, “Just Coast,” released in November and their debut, “Sleep,” which introduced the world to the five-piece last July.
Forming in 2018 the Florets are Nick Mitty(Vocals/Guitar), Joshua Dawes(Bass), Kimbo Star(Keys), Alec Cimera(drums), & Amitay Moody(Guitar). Known for their energetic live shows the band has begun to build a strong fanbase within the Melbourne music scene and are currently preparing to release their debut EP this year.
I am a sucker for a well made psych-rock track and “Shapeshift” takes that sound and blends it seamlessly with old-fashioned blues riffs and 60’s-pop melodies. It is a great song to listen to in the car with the windows rolled down. Now that spring is here in New England you should give it a shot!
