Show Preview | Know What’s Right: Celebrating Tom Petty’s 70th Birthday with Purpose

Tom Petty’s death in 2017 left a massive void in the lives of many of his fans. Not only from a music perspective—though that loss can’t be overstated—we also lost a friend and role model. Tom Petty was never afraid to stand up for what he believed was right.

Three years later there’s nothing that comes close to filling the hole that’s been left, but there are people still trying to carry forth Tom’s spirit.

One of those people is Dylan Sevey (Dylan Sevey & The Gentlmen, Ron Gallo) who took inspiration from his musical hero and decided to use his talents to try to make a difference in the lives of others.

Sevey has orchestrated an online event like no other. Know What’s Right is a collection of 7(!) streaming sets spread out over two days (November 1 and 2,) that will feature tributes to Tom Petty over 100 amazing artists. And the best part is, each one of those sets benefits a different organization.

“After George Floyd was killed, I did a lot of thinking about what it meant to be a good ally. I know I could be out in the streets, but honestly, I’d be a terrible protestor. I don’t have the fearlessness to thrive in situations like that, and therefore, I wouldn’t be the fighter that the cause deserves.

But I’m good at bringing people together, and I try to be good with music-related things. Realizing it would have been Tom’s birthday, and knowing what he was all about, it made too much sense. I just really hope that we raise some good money for some great causes.”

We’re absolutely blown away by the collection of talent that will be on display over the next few days. And at roughly $6.50 per set, I’m not sure there’s any better way to spend 40 bucks that to see all that music and support some incredibly worthy causes.

Buy at ticket to one set. Buy a ticket to them all. Just don’t miss out on this.
