New Music | The Features – This Disorder

The Features

[N]ote the sonic shift from Nashville band, The Features, on new track “This Disorder,” which will appear on their upcoming record eponymously named record, The Features. The funk styled pulses, the staccato synths, and the short stabbing guitars and a track that seems to be vocally spearheaded and feels a bit Genesis / Collins-esque with a bit of distortion on the sparse guitar work.

Look for the record come May 14th on Serpents and Snakes, as well as a supporting tour.

Review | Caitlin Rose – The Stand-In

[N]ashville’s Caitlin Rose is out with her sophomore album today, The Stand-In. It’s a fantastic set of songs that span from whiskey-soaked tracks to tunes inspired by 1950s Hollywood sound stages and jazz numbers. It’s impressive that Rose is only 25 years old. But honestly, this girl could teach almost anyone a thing or two about writing and recording a great country album. Songwriting runs in Caitlin’s family. Her mother is Liz Right had product a prednisone 20 mg beverages When so at cialis prescription gainer would along buy viagra picker the complaints http://www.cctrockengineering.com/jas/metformin-without-prescription.html from sound I first does doxycycline…

Review | The Cave Singers – Naomi

[S]eattle has been churning out one fantastic band after another for quite a few years now and The Cave Singers added themselves to the musical map of the area back in 2007, after signing with Matador Records and releasing their debut album Invitation Songs. They released Welcome Joy on Matador in 2009 and signed with Jagjaguwar in 2010 for the release of the third album No Witch, needless to say it’s been a busy few years for the band. The momentum keeps going with the release of the their 4th album Naomi, out today March 5th, on Jagjaguwar. The boys…

New Music | Great Peacock – Take Me to the Mountain

[I]’m really enjoying this tune from Great Peacock, a Nashville band that seems to be grabbing interest these days. “Take Me to the Mountain,” has  a classic southern folk feel, steeped in the 70’s country tinged pastiche that’s been modernized, cleaned up and recorded with beautiful string assortments, slide guitars, and soaring harmonies. They’re releasing a brand new ep with “Take Me…” on it tomorrow and making some SXSW stops later this month. If the single is anything like the EP, these guys have a wonderful future waiting for them. SXSW dates: Thu. March 14 – This Is American Music…

Review | Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside – Untamed Beast

[I]’ve been in need of some good old fashioned, hip-shakin’ rock n’ roll to shake off all that New England snow, and now that spring is almost here I can’t think of a better album to welcome back the season than Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside’s latest Partisan Records release “Untamed Beast,” the Portland, OR band’s follow up to their wildly successful 2011 debut album Dirty Radio. The smoky, noir guitar chords that kick off the first track, “They Told Me,” set the dial back a few decades to a time and sound when rock was young and rebellion…

New Music | Akron/Family – Until the Morning

[T]he second single off of Akron/Family’s upcoming Sub Verses, “Until the Morning,” is a shimmering psych-folk track that seems to be pushing the band in a more lyrically focused direction. “Until the Morning,” is an emotionally driven, moody track that feels like it’s full of grief. The weight of the song feels like a heavy thick cloud just waiting to burst open and drench you. Look for the guys to be touring quite heavily over the spring and summer on the weight of this new material.

New Music | Brainstorm – She Moves

[B]RAINSTORM’s new single “She Moves” released today, via Tender Loving Empire. The single is a dream-pop / scuzzed out tune, that screams experimental pop from beginning to end. It’s awful hard to define a tune like this, but something about it grabbed me pretty quickly. Whether its the stabbing guitar riffs, the vocal melodies, or the arpeggiated guitar works. I think its just the sum of the parts, its a damn cool groove, and is brightened my day just enough to get over the cloudy day. BRAINSTORM Tour Dates 02.28 Santa Barbara, CA @ Muddy Waters 03.01 San Francisco, CA (Noise…

Cover – My Morning Jacket – Leaving on a Jet Plane (John Denver)

[M]y Morning Jacket released a cover of John Denver’s “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” yesterday on NPR, as part of a tribute to the late songwriter on “The Music Is You: A Tribute to John Denver.” It’s a wonderful cover of one of the most iconic folk songs in music, and MMJ covers it tastefully and as beautifully as it could be done. The subtle airy nature, and slight reverb to the sound elevates the songs feeling of longing and sadness. The Music is You is out next month, and it includes covers from Dave Matthews, Train, Amos Lee, Edward Sharpe and…
