\[W\]e entered Cafe 939 last week to a very packed, very excited crowd waiting for Irish soul / blues act Hozier. After a few shows in New York, a taping with Letterman and a late arrival in Boston, the band was admittedly tired. But the boys (and girls) plowed through a pretty impeccable set that included favorites from Hozier’s two EPs, his upcoming new record, and a few popular covers.

Seeing them for the first time, and having seen multiple live videos, I had known what to expect, but I was surprised just how spot on the vocals and music were in the live session. I think we were left with an awe at just how good these guys were. And just as I finish writing this, Hozier has been announced for Newport Folk Festival, so if you weren’t with us on Thursday, well I’ll be in the crowd come July. See you then?
